Fall Prevention Program
According to the National Council on Aging, one in four Americans aged 65+ falls each year. Every 11 seconds, an older adult is treated in the emergency room for a fall. An older adult dies from a fall every 19 minutes. There are 3 balance systems: Vision, Proprioception (touch), and the Vestibular System (motion, equilibrium and spatial orientation). If any of the above systems are not functioning properly, the risk for a fall increases. Physical Therapy and wellness exercises can help identify balance system inadequacies and treat causes of these inadequacies. This can be lifesaving.
These visits typically run 60 minutes.
